When we hear the word “Algebra” we think of complicated equations but it’s nothing but the
simplest math in our everyday life.

Let’s imagine:
On a weekend, you are nagging your mom to buy you a lot of delicious chocolates, The total bill only for your chocolates is ₹50. She bought ten ₹5 rupee dairy milk for you. So,How many chocolates did she buy for you?
So, your answer is she bought 10 chocolates for you
Well, you know if 1 chocolate is ₹5 then ten chocolates is ₹50.
So, the equation turns out to be,
5x = 50 ———– (1), (equating on both sides based on the condition)
The condition here is the cost of each chocolate is ₹5, and also the total cost is ₹50
X is variable and 5 is the coefficient of the variable. Here, we take x as the number of chocolates.
By solving the equation,
5x = 50
x = 50/5,
x = 5
we got the value of variable x is 10. Hence the number of chocolates is 10.
It’s elementary,

There are types of equations based on the highest power of variable

1) Linear Equation: Here, y is the variable and the power of y is 1. So It is called Linear Equation also called as First degree equation.

Comparing the both the equations we know that,
● x is the variable
● a is the coefficient of variable
● b and c are constants

2) Quadratic Equation: It is called Quadratic Equation as you can see the variable x has both power 1 and 2 in this equation but the highest power is 2.

● x is the variable
● a and b is the coefficient of variable
● c is constant

3) Cubic Equation: For the cubic equation, the highest power of variable x is 3

These are the different types of equations.
