Case study with Carpenters
Mukesh ‘s father is a talented carpenter .One day, while he was crafting a wooden
picture frame, he needed to join two pieces of wood at a precise angle .
Mukesh inquired ,
“What angle are you using to connect the wood?”
His father replied “I am using a 90-degree angle , which is known as right angle; this will
ensure that the frame is stable enough to securely hold the picture.”
What is an angle?
An angle is defined as a geometric figure created by the intersection of two
rays at a shared point . The rays are referred to as the arms of the angle , while the point of
intersection is known as the vertex.
What is a vertex?
The point where two rays meet .
What is an Arm?
The two rays that form the angle interior and exterior .
● The region between the arms are called INTERIOR
● The region outside the arms is called the EXTERIOR
Measuring an angle : Angles are measured in degree (^0).
A full circle has 360^0.
Types of angle:
Based on the size , angle are classified as:
Acute angle : Less than 90-degree.
Right angle: Exactly 90-degree.
Obtuse angle : Greater than 90-degree, but less than 180-degree.
Straight angle : Exactly 180-degree.
Reflex angle : Greater than 180-degree,but less than 360-degree.
Complete angle : Exactly 360-degree.
Real life Examples:
The corner of the door is at a right angle .
When watch or clock show 10:10 it is an acute angle
An open window is an obtuse angle .
Understanding the angle are very easy by designing structure, analyzing patterns, and showing
and solving the problem in everyday life .
